How do I place an order?

A mailer new to Millard Group should contact our Brokerage Department by clicking here. An experienced Account Manager will get in touch with you and discuss your needs.

I only want to place a couple of orders on your list management files and don't think I will need a broker to help me. How do I place an order on your managed files?
You can place your orders directly with our List Management department. For contacts on specific lists, you can search for the data card using left menu bar. To help expedite the process, you can download a mailer checklist and order template.

Do I need to submit a sample with my order?

If this is the first time you have ordered a listyes you should submit a sample with your order. The sample can consist of several faxed pages, including the front cover and the order form if applicable, any promotional items should also be included. The sample must be a true representation of what will be mailed.

How long will it take to process my order?

Completion varies from list to list. On the average allow at least 2 to 5 days for list owner approval, accounting approval, and fulfillment process.

There are many terms that I have heard used in direct mail, but I do not know what they all mean. Can you provide me with some definitions on frequently used words/terms?

Buyer - An individual or establishment that has ordered and paid for a product or service. A mail order buyer, has made a purchase through the mail.
Datacard - A promotional document providing basic data: Pricing per M (thousand), segment counts, demographics, as well as all other list rental information for a given list.
Decoy - Also known as a "seed" or "dummy" name. A record unique to only one list, inserted as a control to flag what was actually mailed, at what time, and by whom.
DMA Pander - A service offered by the Direct Marketing Association, providing consumers with the ability to remove their individual names from mailing lists.
List Rental Agreement - A letter signed by the mailer agreeing to usage terms established by the list owner.
Exchange order - A reciprocal relationship in which one mail order company swaps buyers, usually on a name for name basis, with another mail order company; often both prospect in the same market.
House file - A list of names and addresses of individuals or companies who have bought or responded to your offer.
List - A list of names and addresses of individuals or companies.
List Broker - Acts as the liaison between the mailer (the broker's client) and the list manager/owner. Brokers make arrangements on behalf of their mailers to make use of another company's mailing list.
List Manager/List Management - While the list broker works for the mailer, the list manager services the list owner as merchandiser of a list, involving all details of promotion, rental, collection, and control.
NCOA - National Change of Address file established and maintained by the United States Postal Service. The file contains those individuals or companies who have moved within the last 48 months. The NCOA service is performed by commercial vendors licensed by the USPS.
Merge/Purge - This is a process to combine two or more lists into one while eliminating duplication of multiple address entries. The output provides unique individuals for the respective mailer to prospect to.
Service Bureau - Works on behalf of both the mailer and the list owner. The mailer utilizes the service bureau to perform merge/purge. List owners utilize a service bureau to house their mailing lists.
